Iterations was created to identify and document a roadmap for effectively implementing a data warehouse. Its goals are to enable the individuals responsible for developing and implementing a data warehouse to:

The DOT group uses an approach referred to as Joint Application Development (JAD) to carry out an analysis as well as the subsequent development of any project. Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions are used as a basis for the requirements gathering. JAD is a formal, documented process that enables valuable end-user time to be concentrated effectively in the elicitation and assessment of the functionality to be presented by the delivered systems. JAD is controlled by a facilitator, and the discussions, agreements and areas that need further investigation are recorded by a scribe.
